Wakenaam Island man arrested for 711 grams of marijuana

Acting on information received, the police arrested a Wakenaam Island man on Monday for possession of  711 grams of marijuana which he stashed in foil wrap and a plastic bag.

According to a police report, receiving a tip, shortly after noon on Monday the police went to Good Success, Wakenaam Island where they noticed a male riding a bicycle. They stopped him and informed him of their suspicions before conducting a search.

During the search, a silver foil wrap was found in his right side, front pants pocket which contained a number of leaves and stems. There was also a transparent ziplock bag with nine small transparent ziplock bags containing leaves, seeds and stems.

The police then searched further and found that the black plastic bag he had in his left hand contained two bulky parcels wrapped in transparent plastic with a number of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The police then took possession of all the narcotics. The suspect was immediately told of the offence and cautioned and he remained silent.

He was then arrested and taken to the Sans Souci Police Station where the suspected narcotics were weighed in his presence and full view. It amounted to 711 grams. The man remains in custody awaiting charges.
