A motorcycle driver fled the hospital on Monday after helping to drop off his unconscious pillion rider who moments earlier had injured herself in an accident involving them both, due to his fast rate of driving.

According to police report, several checks were made at the address and workplace of motorcycle driver, Daniel Singh to no avail.

On Monday at about 21:30 hours, Singh, who was driving motor ATV CK 4481 with pillion rider Reshma Baldeo of Goed Fortune, WBD, was involved in a serious accident on Pouderoyen Public Road, WBD.

Inquiries disclosed that the motorcycle was proceeding north along the western side on Pouderoyen Public Road at a fast rate of speed when the driver lost control of the motorcycle and toppled several times. He collided with an erected pedestrian crossing sign and ended up on the western parapet.

As a result, the pillion rider received a laceration on her right side face and the motorcycle received damage to its right side portion.

The injured pillion rider was picked up in an unconscious condition by the driver and public-spirited citizens and transported to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where she was seen and examined by the doctor. She was then admitted as a patient at the said institution female surgical ward.

Singh then fled from the hospital and was not located by the police up to Tuesday morning.
