The Guyana Independence Celebration Committee New York has announced plans for Guyana’s 59th Independence Parade and celebration in New York (Mashramani in New York) on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

This celebration comprises the Independence Parade on Church Avenue, Brooklyn, as well as the flag raising and award ceremonies and the grand Guyana Independence Unity Concert, at 1450 Utica Ave, Brooklyn NY 11203 (between Glenwood Road & Farragut Road).

Organizers have invited businesses to place music trucks in the Parade (Mashramani in New York) Businesses who wish to place a truck, participate or advertise their business or brand in the parade should contact the committee’s representative Devon Nobel at 347-722-1723.

The Parade starts at Church & Brooklyn Avenues in Brooklyn at 12 p.m. (noon), and will proceed east on Church Ave to Utica Ave, and south on Utica Ave to Glenwood Road, where it ends. Independence concert will commence at 2:00 P.M at the enclosure at 1450 Utica Avenue. Concert tickets cost $20 each, and go on sale from April 15, at the committee’s website, Eventbrite, Pam’s Bakery 4620 Church Ave Brooklyn NY 11203; German’s Restaurant 410 Utica Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11213; Caribbean Vision Center 1012 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11226, and at the door.

The flag raising and award ceremonies will precede the concert, which will feature prominent Guyanese DJs, radio personalities, and a surprise Caribbean international superstar artiste.

The Guyana Independence Committee New York will, at the award ceremony, present the customary Kaieteur Award of Distinction, and United States Congressional Proclamations to outstanding Guyanese at home and in the diaspora.

This celebration is the largest Guyanese celebration outside of Guyana, and the one of the largest for West Indian celebrations in New York City, after the Labor Day parade. Each year, it attracts thousands of attendees, and over one million online viewers via our website and social media.
