By Pt.Ubraj Narine- Last evening, the decision by the Guyana Police Force to deploy a SWAT team for the arrest of Assistant Commissioner of Police Calvin Brutus, while neglecting more alleged corrupt figures such as Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo and the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) businessmen facing U.S. visa revocations and possible sanctions should raise concern. These businessmen also continue to get billions of dollars in contracts from the same PPP government.

I wish to remind the Guyana Police Force that the rule of law must apply uniformly, regardless of one’s political stature or connections. The U.S. government’s actions, revoking visas of certain PPP-affiliated individuals, suggest a deeper issue of integrity that warrants thorough investigation. The implications of these actions extend beyond personal consequences; they challenge the credibility of the PPP governance and its adherence to ethical standards.

Gas lines -a study in leadership failure, mixed priorities

The Guyana Police Force should have directed their investigative efforts towards those in positions of power. There should be an inquiry into Bharrat Jagdeo and Su ZhiRong and associates. Citizens deserve assurance that their leaders operate with integrity, free from corruption, and undue influence.

The deployment of a SWAT team raises alarms about the use of excessive force and the prioritisation of policing tactics to drift away from the PPP government corrupt practices. It is essential for law enforcement agencies to focus on substantial issues that affect the nation’s integrity rather than engaging in actions that may appear to be politically motivated or disproportionate.

The Guyanese citizens await to see an investigation the alleged corruption between VP Bharrat Jagdeo and Su Zhi Rong, the murders of Henry Boys, Courtney Crum Ewing, Orin Boston, Haresh Singh, Satayadeow Sawh, Lusignan and Bartica massacre and many other cases.
