In recent revelations, Rickford Burke, a prominent activist and the President of the Caribbean Guyana Institute for Democracy, reported a serious breach of privacy and safety at his residence. “As I was departing my residence for church, two men both armed with guns rushed into my yard,” Burke stated, describing a frightening encounter that has now drawn the attention of U.S. law enforcement agencies, including the FBI.
The incident, which Burke says involved individuals associated with the Guyanese government, was captured on security footage and has escalated to a federal investigation. “The police informed me that this is also a federal matter and they immediately informed the FBI,” he added, confirming the gravity of the situation.
Burke, known for his vocal opposition to the current Guyanese administration, suggested that these actions could be in response to his criticism of their policies. “US law enforcement is also investigating several persons who have been conducting surveillance,” he explained, underscoring the potential international implications of the case. Despite the intimidation tactics, Burke states that he remains undeterred, pledging to continue his advocacy and stand firm against corruption and injustice.
