Providing unique and personalised mats tailored to suit one’s expression is Sharz Collection, a customisation business based in the mining town of Linden.
Sharz Collection is owned and managed by Sharry Bailey, a 20-year-old Lindener whose burning desire to be an independent young woman is responsible for her accomplishment of becoming an entrepreneur at a young age.
Although graduating from the Christianburg Wismar Secondary School with eight subjects, Bailey found it challenging to find a job for the past three years.
However, the young woman was not discouraged by her challenges but was motivated to step out of her comfort zone and to become her own boss.
“After I finished school it was pretty hard to find a job even though I passed all of my subjects with flying colours so I decided to start a business,” she said.
In April 2021, Bailey launched her food business where she sold chicken burritos.
Bailey related, “I initially started a food business called Sharz Muchies where I sold chicken burritos then I decided to branch off because a lot of people were selling food and I wanted to do something I do not see much of on a daily.”
“So I saved most of my money from my first business and I invested in a machine and other materials to make my customised mats and that is how Sharz Collection was birthed,” she went on to say.
Sharz Collection which was officially launched on August 25, 2021, offers customised doormats, bedroom mats and even vehicle mats.
According to Bailey, having customised mats can satisfy one’s uniqueness seeking. Customised mats are also a good way to express one’s identity, express innovation and ownership, she added.
“I think people should purchase my products because it’s very affordable I would say and really great quality. The mats are made of a hay like material that is very sturdy and really good. I take pride in all my work and I want to satisfy my customers,” Bailey noted.
The entrepreneur related that it feels good owning a business at a young age and added that she would like to see her unique business flourish and become well-known in the future.
Bailey’s advice to persons who are unemployed is to invest in a business that they have a passion for.
“Keep the faith and keep looking for opportunities especially if you are qualified and if you are still having a problem getting a job then you should invest money in a profitable business. Invest in a business that you know you will put your best foot forward and do it right and with a passion,” Bailey posited.
