The government, through the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, has invited eligible contractors to submit bids for the construction of new markets at Soesdyke Junction in Region Four, Skeldon, and Port Mourant in Region Six.
The construction of the markets forms part of the government’s broader efforts to improve public infrastructure and create more modern, organised and accessible facilities for communities across the country.
The development of markets is also expected to provide vendors with safer and more suitable spaces to sell their goods and services.
Residents in these communities can expect improved market facilities that will enhance the shopping experience, support local vendors, and contribute to the continued development of the surrounding areas.
Tender documents will be available from August 27, 2026, at the Accounts Department of the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, Fort Street, Kingston, upon payment of a non-refundable fee of $3,000.
Bidders are required to submit their bids no later than 09:00 hours on September 17, 2026, to the National Procurement and Tender Administration, Ministry of Finance, Main and Urquhart Streets, Georgetown.
The bids will subsequently be opened at 09:00 hours on the same day, in the presence of bidders’ representatives who wish to attend.
All bids must remain valid for 120 days from the date of bid opening, while late bids will be rejected and returned unopened.
