| President Irfaan Ali is heading to the United States (U.S) today. He is expected to hold roundtable discussions, bilateral meetings, a diaspora engagement as well as an interfaith forum, over the next few days. According to a government’s release, high on the President’s agenda is a meeting on Thursday, 15th September in Washington D.C between Caribbean leaders and U.S Vice President, Kamala Harris. The meeting is said to be a follow-up to President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris’ commitment at the recent Summit of the Americas to partner with the Caribbean to promote energy security, access to finance, and food security. On Saturday, 17th September, President Ali is expected to travel to Orlando, Florida, for a diaspora engagement. From 18th to 21st September, he is scheduled to participate in a number of bilateral engagements and address several high-level events, including addressing the 77th  session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 21st September. The president is being joined by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Todd, and Foreign Secretary, Robert Persaud. |
