A dunce and his doctorate

The fact is, an honourary doctorate is conferred and not awarded. In fact, those conferred an honourary doctorate, wouldn’t have undergone the academic rigours, to earn said degree. As a matter of fact, many conferred may not have had the mandatory academic qualifications, to undertake said studies. And it’s for these reasons, regardless of the conferring institution, there are standard practices when conferred with an honourary doctorate.

1. The recipient of the honourary doctorate only uses the title Dr. when communicating with the conferring university.
2. The recipient of the honourary doctorate should be unambiguous about their status when communicating with the general public.
3. The recipient of the honourary doctorate, should in no way attempt, intentional or unintentional, to misrepresent oneself as a doctor (medical or academic).

However, here we have an honourary doctor, answering to the name Bharrat Jagdeo, who isn’t satisfied with said name on his birth certificate. For he craves the title doctor, even though he is more stupid than scholastic. He craves the title doctor, even though he is far from academic. He craves the title doctor, even though he lacks the aptitude. He craves the title doctor, even though he is a back of the class dunce. In fact, this masquerader is nothing but a specialist in failure.

For he was an abysmal failure with his Skeldon project, pegged by corruption, and a long list of false assumptions. For he brainlessly assumed, innumerable private cane farmers, would return to his Skeldon land. But that never happened. Why? The back of the class dunce never considered the region known for cattle ranching, rice farming and illicit trading, wouldn’t rush to return to the backbreaking task of planting sugarcane. The end result is, taxpayers are burdened with a US$200 million bill.

Then there was the Fip Motilall road construction to the Amalia Falls Hydroelectric Project. However, the Amaila Falls Hydroelectric Project was fanciful at best, with an initial burdensome cost of US$435 million, skyrocketing to over US$900 million by the time APNU+AFC Government put an end to the wastage.

Thereafter, was the fibre-optic cable project with Alexi Ramotar. This turned out to be another tragic failure costing the taxpayers US$6.5 million.

And to add to his failures, there was the specialty hospital in which a shell company was advanced US$4 million. However, they mysteriously vanished like Su, heaping more financial burden on the taxpayers.

Then there was the gutting of the NIS, to feed a slush fund, which financed the Berbice Bridge. However, most predictably, this registered another failure for the back of the class dunce. Which means, for his grandiosity, Bharrat Jagdeo has burdened the taxpayers with billions of US$, in failed projects. Thus, it’s unambiguous, Bharrat Jagdeo is nothing but an irretrievable failure. And conscious of being an irretrievable failure, he desperately craves the title Dr, as a medium to whitewash his ineptitude.

Nevertheless, this is what we know, thus shall share.  Honourary degrees, more so honorary doctorates are conferred universally, to recipients who might not have had the scholastic aptitude to earn them. However, it’s standard practice that the prefix Dr, is only used when the recipient of the honourary doctorate is communicating, with the conferring University.

But Bharrat Jagdeo careless about standard practice, as it pertains to his honourary doctorate. He  is careless that the prefix Dr shouldn’t be used in general communications. He is careless that the prefix Dr shouldn’t be used to misrepresent oneself as a bonafide doctor.

In fact, Barack Obama is an honourary doctor, yet he never uses the prefix Dr.. Joe Biden is an honourary doctor, yet he never uses the prefix Dr.. George Bush is an honourary doctor, yet he never uses the prefix Dr.. Bill Clinton is an honourary doctor, yet he never uses the prefix Dr.. In fact, many sportsmen and women would’ve been conferred with an honourary doctorate, yet they never use the prefix Dr.. As a matter of fact, millions the world over, would’ve been conferred with an honourary doctorate, yet they never use the prefix Dr.

But in Bharrat Jagdeo, we have a perpetual failure. For the Skeldon project represents a colossal failure. The Amalia Falls project represents another colossal failure. The fibre optic project represents another colossal failure. The specialty hospital represents another colossal failure. The Berbice Bridge represents another colossal failure. For a colossal failure is Bharrat Jagdeo. A tragic failure who clings to this honourary doctorate as his own, masquerading as Dr. Bharat Jagdeo, when in fact, he is a charlatan.
