Teens killed as bikes collide in Rupununi

Two teenagers were killed on Monday afternoon when the bikes they were riding collided on the Karaudanawau Trail Road, Rpupununi, Region Nine.
Police identified the victims as Lennon Wilson 18 years of Katoonarib Village South Rupununi. He was riding motorcycle # NAZ 9974. The second victim is Jobe Edwards 19 years Karaudanawau Village South Rupununi Region. He was riding motorcycle # NAP 7804.

Police said the accident occurred around 14:30. It is alleged that motorcycle #NAZ 9974 was proceeding east along the northern side headed in a westerly direction out of a track whilst motorcycle # NAP 7804 was proceeding in a northerly direction along the western side heading in a southerly direction on Karaudanawau Trail descending hill. He was riding allegedly a fast rate of speed when the driver of motorcycle # NAZ 9974 drove onto the said trail from the track without due care and into the path of the other and a collision occurred.

They were both picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Aishalton Health Centre where Lennon Wilson was pronounced dead on arrival and Jobe Edwards was treated for head injuries and lacerations about his body and later referred to the Lethem Regional Hospital to seek further medical attention where he succumbed to his injuries. “The GPF extends condolences to the relatives of the deceased and continue to urge road users to exercise care and caution on the roads and trails across Guyana to minimize unfortunate incidents such as this,” the police statement read.
