People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) executives in the Mahaica-Berbice Region (No.5) have complained about the prejudice and persistent unproficient and unprofessional behaviour of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Guyana Police Force.

The complaints were relayed to former President and PNCR Leader David Granger during one of his ongoing village outreach programme on Saturday.

In a statement, the party said its Members spoke out about the slothful Police probe into the malicious injury of three children in a school bus on 6th March at Bush Lot and Bath Settlement, the arson of Jamal and Latchmin Azeez’s butchery at Cotton Tree on 20th March and the murders of three young men – Isaiah and Joel Henry and Haresh Singh – in September, all in the Region. They reported, also that the Police fired pellets directly at the bodies of protestors in Hopetown Village without warrant or warning.

Additionally, PNCR Members who had served as scrutineers in the National Recount of Ballots at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre after the General and Regional Elections 2020 complained of having been arrested, interrogated and detained only to be released on bail by the Police who had no evidence of electoral misconduct on their part. Residents compared the CID’s hasty investigations into these fictitious elections allegations with its failure to bring arsonists, murderers and perpetrators of violence to justice.

Meanwhile, Granger, who was accompanied by his party’s General Secretary Amna Ally and Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon, congratulated Natasha Singh-Lewis and Vinceroy Jordan on their recent election to the National Assembly and new members of the Regional Democratic Council.

The Party Leader presented a tablet to Amanda King who gained placement at the recent National Grade Six Assessment at Bush Lot Secondary School while Singh-Lewis handed over several hampers to the Regional Secretary Carol Smith-Joseph for distribution to elders in the Region.
