Candidate calls for urgent action on drainage in South Ruimveldt Park and Gardens, Rasville

Kibwe Copeland, a candidate for Guyana local government elections in Region 4, Constituency 14, has highlighted the need for a detailed assessment and transformative plan to combat drainage in the areas of South Ruimveldt Park and Gardens, Rasville. He said that the smallest amount of rainfall turns streets and small drains into little rivers, affecting the lives and livelihoods of residents.
Running as a Constituency Candidate for constituency 14 which comprise of South Ruimveldt Park/Ruimveldt Industrial Estate/Rasville/Container city, in the city of Georgetown. Once elected will enter city hall as a councillor of the Mayor and City council
“Children are prevented from attending school, businesses are affected, the inside of some homes are filled with water. This has been a reality for several years now,” Copeland said in a statement. He shared pictures of the result of the rainfall last Friday, April 21, which showed flooded streets and yards.
Copeland said that he is committed to working with the Regional Democratic Council (RDC), the Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC), and other stakeholders to find sustainable solutions to the drainage problem. He said that he believes that local government is a vital aspect of democracy and development, and that he wants to involve as many people as possible in the task of managing and developing their communities.
“I am running for local government as a constituency candidate because I care about my constituency and I want to make a positive difference. I have a vision of a clean, green, and safe environment for all residents. I have a passion for serving my people and I have the skills and experience to do so effectively,” Copeland said.
Copeland urged residents to exercise their democratic right and vote in the local government elections on June 12. He said that he is confident that he can win the support of his constituents and deliver on his promises.
“I am asking for your trust and your vote. Together, we can make Constituency 14 a better place to live, work, and play,” Copeland said.
