Georgetown, Guyana (June 1, 2023) – The US Embassy in Georgetown has issued an alert to all US citizens in Guyana regarding an ongoing protest and civil unrest in the Soesdyke (Linden area). The alert states that, “As tensions rise, the road in the vicinity has been blocked off, causing traffic disruptions in both directions. The situation remains tense as of 1:00 pm, and the duration of the protest is uncertain.”

The Guyanese Police Force is present at the scene, working to regain control and ensure public safety. However, the protest is scheduled to continue, further complicating the situation and potentially prolonging the disruption.
