Venezuelan teen struck dead on Prospect Public Road

An 18-year-old Venezuelan was struck dead on Sunday morning on the Prospect Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) after reportedly running into the path of a moving vehicle.

According to police reports, dead is Nazaretlt Palacio while the driver of the vehicle was 21-year-old Ronaldo Hussain of Diamond, EBD.

Inquiries disclosed that in the wee hours of Sunday morning, Hussain was proceeding in motorcar PTT3955 north along the western drive lane of the western carriageway of the Prospect Road. He alleges that he was driving about 50kmph when he observed someone running across the road from west to east on the said carriageway into his path.

The incident took place in the vicinity of Bikers’ Sports Bar. Hussain said that he felt an impact to the front of his vehicle and, as a result of the collision, the deceased was flung into the air before landing on the right side front window screen and finally onto the roadways some distance away.

Statements were obtained, measurements were taken and a breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver of the motorcar for which the reading showed 0 micrograms of alcohol. Further investigation in progress
