Historic Diamond Jubilee Celebration Strengthens Cultural Pride, Unity, and Bilateral Ties Between Guyana and Grenada
The Office of the Honorary Consul of Guyana, in collaboration with the Guyanese Diaspora in Grenada, proudly hosted a vibrant and memorable celebration commemorating the 60th Anniversary of Guyana’s Independence — marking the nation’s historic Diamond Jubilee milestone.
The landmark event drew the largest gathering of Guyanese nationals and friends of Guyana seen in Grenada in over a decade, reflecting the strength, pride, and growing unity of the Guyanese community across the region.

A major highlight of the celebration was the attendance of Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada, who graciously accepted the invitation to attend the festivities. Prime Minister Mitchell reaffirmed Grenada’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Guyana and extended heartfelt congratulations to the Government and people of Guyana on this remarkable national achievement.
The celebration also featured inspiring remarks from distinguished members of the community, including Mr. Darshan Ramdhani, K.C., Justice Paula Gilford, and Honorary Consul Mrs. Sabrita Khan-Ramdhani, who each spoke passionately about Guyana’s progress, the importance of diaspora unity, and the enduring bonds shared between the peoples of Guyana and Grenada.
Guests enjoyed an atmosphere filled with culture, fellowship, music, and authentic cuisine, creating an unforgettable experience for attendees of all ages.
