The landmark event drew the largest gathering of Guyanese nationals and friends of Guyana seen in Grenada in over a decade, reflecting the strength, pride, and growing unity of the Guyanese community across the region.

A major highlight of the celebration was the attendance of Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada, who graciously accepted the invitation to attend the festivities. Prime Minister Mitchell reaffirmed Grenada’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Guyana and extended heartfelt congratulations to the Government and people of Guyana on this remarkable national achievement.

The celebration also featured inspiring remarks from distinguished members of the community, including Mr. Darshan Ramdhani, K.C., Justice Paula Gilford, and Honorary Consul Mrs. Sabrita Khan-Ramdhani, who each spoke passionately about Guyana’s progress, the importance of diaspora unity, and the enduring bonds shared between the peoples of Guyana and Grenada.

Guests enjoyed an atmosphere filled with culture, fellowship, music, and authentic cuisine, creating an unforgettable experience for attendees of all ages. The event served not only as a celebration of Guyana’s independence, but also as a proud reflection of the resilience, achievements, and contributions of the Guyanese people both at home and abroad.

“The overwhelming support and attendance demonstrated the deep love and pride the Guyanese Diaspora continues to hold for their homeland,” said Honorary Consul Mrs. Sabrita Khan-Ramdhani. “This Diamond Jubilee celebration was more than an event — it was a powerful reminder of our shared heritage, unity, and commitment to preserving Guyanese culture for future generations.”

The organizers expressed sincere gratitude to all supporters, attendees, community partners, and volunteers whose contributions made the celebration a tremendous success.

As Guyana commemorates 60 years of independence and national development, the Guyanese community in Grenada proudly joins in honoring the nation’s remarkable journey and bright future ahead.
