Blustering Buffoons" at Babu Jaan; a Disgrace to President Jagan's Memory

Dear Editor,

I write to express my profound disgust and utter dismay at the annual spectacle orchestrated by Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo at Babu Jaan, Guyana. Each year, instead of honoring the memory of former President Cheddie Jagan, Jagdeo desecrates it with his old, tired, and blatantly racist commentary. His diatribes at Babu Jaan have become a shameful display of ignorance and bigotry, tarnishing the legacy of a great leader.

It is appalling to witness Jagdeo and his cronies stoop to such lows.  Like destructive blustering buffoons, they insult the intelligence of the people at Babu Jaan with their vile rhetoric. Their attacks on the PNC, their baseless accusations against any perceived critics, and their use of racist dog whistles only serve to spread fear and insecurity among the populace. Instead of honoring Cheddie Jagan’s name, they turn Babu Jaan into a caricature of bile and racism.

Jagdeo’s lack of imagination, vision, and foresight is evident in his annual performances at Babu Jaan. Rather than uplifting the community and honoring Jagan’s contributions to Guyana, he infects it with the evil that festers within him. It is a disgrace that such individuals hold positions of power in our country.

The people of Babu John deserve better. The people of Guyana deserve better. Jagdeo’s antics at Babu Jaan do not deserve front-page accolades; they deserve condemnation and repudiation. He is a seeping sore on the backside of Guyana, and it is time for us to get some medical care for him.

I believe in the people of Guyana.  I believe that the people of Guyana will rise above the toxicity that Jagdeo embodies. Let us strive for a future where Babu Jaan is not tainted by such filth, but rather celebrated for the values of unity, inclusivity, and progress that Cheddie Jagan stood for.

Sincerely,
Eldon Peters
