Linden miner believed drowned at Banana Landing

A 31-year-old miner of Amelia’s Ward, Linden has reportedly drowned at Banana Landing Backdam, Middle Mazaruni River.
The man has been identified as Albert Nurse. According to reports, on January 14, 2021 at about 08:30h, another miner returned to the mining camp and saw Nurse laying in his hammock and enquired why he was there.
“The deceased then jumped out of the hammock and ran away and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol,” Police said in a statement.

At about 13:30h that day, Nurse’s body was found motionless in an old mining pit a short way from his mining camp.
Police were summoned. No marks of violence were seen on the man’s body.
A post mortem examination is scheduled.
