MODEC, a leading provider of floating production solutions for the offshore oil and gas industry, recently donated US$2500 to support the Civil Defence Commission’s disaster relief efforts in countries affected by Hurricane Beryl, a powerful storm that wreaked havoc across the Caribbean region, which has caused widespread destruction and displaced numerous families.

Beryl was a Category 5 Atlantic hurricane that affected parts of the Caribbean, the Yucatán Peninsula, and the United States’ Gulf Coast. The hurricane happened during late June and early July 2024, and in its wake Caribbean leaders have called for a ‘Marshall Plan’ to help their rebuilding efforts.

In a release, MODEC said its contribution is a response to the urgent humanitarian crisis to aid recovery and rebuilding efforts in the affected islands.

Rafael Fumis, Country Manager, said MODEC is deeply saddened by the devastation caused by Beryl and the company’s thoughts are with all those affected by this disaster. “As a company committed to corporate social responsibility, we feel a responsibility to support the communities in which we operate. We hope that our donation will help provide much-needed relief to those in need and aid in the recovery process.”

MODEC said it remains dedicated to supporting humanitarian causes and contributing to the well-being of communities in times of need.
