(Olympic Games)- Wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh along with pacers Yash Thakur and Ashok Sharma received their maiden senior call-up to the 15-member Indian squad for the Zimbabwe T20 2026 series, scheduled to start later this month.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the team for the three-match T20I series on Monday.

All-rounder Harsh Dubey, who has represented the Indian cricket team in two ODIs, also received his maiden senior call-up.

Meanwhile, several high-profile players currently involved in India’s ongoing T20I series against England have been left out of the squad for the Zimbabwe tour. Sanju Samson, Ravi Bishnoi, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana were among those who got the axe.

Sanju Samson, 31, played a key role for India in their triumphant T20 World Cup campaign in March but has had a string of poor scores lately. He managed only six runs in three matches in India’s shock 2-0 series loss to Ireland and in the opener against England.

Samson made way for teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the second T20 against England.

Sooryavanshi, meanwhile, became India’s youngest player in international cricket at 15 years and 99 days. He has retained his place for the Zimbabwe tour.

Shreyas Iyer will continue as Indian T20 captain after an underwhelming start to his reign, while Tilak Varma will be his deputy.

Left-handed batter Rinku Singh returns to India’s T20I setup after last featuring during India’s T20 World Cup-winning campaign against South Africa earlier this year.

Express pacer Mayank Yadav also returns to the squad having last played for India late in 2024.

India will face Zimbabwe in three matches at the Harare Sports Club, scheduled to be held from July 23 to 26. Their last T20I tour of Zimbabwe was in July 2024, when they registered a 4-1 series victory.
