The Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) has installed Nigel London as its new president following a special meeting held yesterday, as the local governing body attempts to stabilise its administration and refocus on the sport’s development.

London’s appointment came after outgoing president Horace Burrowes formally stepped down during the meeting, which was convened to address a series of vacancies within the federation’s executive. According to details emerging from the session, discussions centred on constitutional matters, finances, and the broader direction of the organisation before the replacement process began.

At the start of the meeting, several key posts were vacant, including the general secretary, vice presidents for the disciplinary and racing committees, racing secretary, assistant racing secretary, and assistant general secretary. In keeping with the federation’s constitution, the respective clubs that previously held those positions were responsible for nominating replacements, allowing the process to proceed in a structured manner.

The newly elected members of the Guyana Cycling Federation are:

  • Nigel London – President (following Burrowes’ resignation)

  • Mark St. Claire – General Secretary (KARCC)

  • William Howard – Treasurer (Flying Stars)

  • Carlos Mendonca – Vice President, Discipline (Continental)

  • Linden Dowridge – Vice President, Racing (Flying Ace)

  • Hector Edwards – Vice President, Finances (resigned; replacement to be announced)

  • Walter Grandstuart – Racing Secretary (WSU)

  • Maria Leung – Assistant Treasurer

  • Melanie Collins – Assistant Secretary (Carlton Wheelers)

The special meeting marked a significant administrative transition for the federation as it seeks to strengthen its leadership structure and chart a clear path forward for cycling in Guyana.
