EXCLUSIVE: Trump Administration Investigates Guyana’s PPP Government for Brazen Violation of U.S. Sovereignty in Armed Intimidation of Activist

New York, NY – According to a recent statement from the Caribbean Guyana Institute for Democracy, the Trump Administration has launched a high-level investigation into the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) government of Guyana after shocking revelations emerged that Detective Superintendent Rodwell Sarabo, a senior Guyana Police officer, was dispatched to Brooklyn, New York, to threaten and intimidate prominent Guyanese-American activist Rickford Burke, President of the Caribbean Guyana Institute for Democracy (CGID), in what U.S. authorities now believe was a state-sponsored act of transnational repression.

On December 16, 2023, Burke was leaving his Brooklyn home for church when Sarabo and an armed accomplice rushed onto his property, brandishing an illegally acquired firearm, and attempted to serve a fraudulent summons from a Guyana Magistrates’ Court. Witnesses later told the FBI that if Burke had been alone, the officers might have fabricated a confrontation, raising fears of an assassination attempt disguised as self-defense.

The NYPD and FBI swiftly intervened, treating the incident as a potential act of international terrorism. Surveillance footage captured Sarabo’s accomplice harassing Burke as he descended his stairs, further exposing the Guyana Police Force’s reckless violation of U.S. sovereignty.

The documents left at Burke’s home falsely accused him of traveling to Guyana on September 23, 2023, to extort money from a car dealership, a claim the FBI immediately debunked after confirming Burke has not set foot in Guyana in over 25 years.

This blatant fabrication was orchestrated by Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo, Attorney General Anil Nandlall, and Police Commissioner Clifton Hicken in a desperate attempt to smear Burke before U.S. officials and lawmakers.

But the PPP’s lies didn’t stop there.  Nandlall’s Fatal Mistake?  Lying to the U.S. Attorney General.  In an astonishing display of audacity and incompetence, Attorney General Anil Nandlall escalated the deception by formally writing to then-U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland on July 27, 2024, repeating the false charges and demanding Burke’s arrest.

What Nandlall didn’t know? The FBI had already exposed the PPP’s fraud.  Now, with the Trump Administration back in power, U.S. officials are demanding accountability from Guyana’s PPP government for;  violating U.S. immigration laws by sending a foreign police officer to conduct unauthorized operations on American soil, illegally acquiring and brandishing a firearm in the commission of what appears to be state-sponsored intimidation and engaging in transnational repression, a tactic used by authoritarian regimes to silence dissidents abroad.

The Caribbean Guyana Institute for Democracy (CGID) has long warned that the PPP government operates like a criminal syndicate, using Guyana’s institutions to target critics, manipulate elections, and now, violate international law.

“This is not just an attack on Rickford Burke, it’s an attack on the United States,” said a CGID spokesperson. “The PPP must face severe sanctions for this brazen assault on democracy and U.S. sovereignty.”

With the FBI, NYPD, and Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) all investigating, the PPP government could soon find itself in the crosshairs of U.S. sanctions, visa bans, and even criminal indictments for its role in this international scandal.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned for updates.
