They’ve conquered the classroom and the soccer field, and they’re just getting started.

Kadeem and Sekou Agard, twin brothers of Guyanese heritage, are making waves across the United States, not only as standout Division I athletes but also as accomplished engineering graduates preparing for their next big move. With a foundation built on strong values and support, the brothers, and their twin sisters, now engineering students at Georgia Tech, represent a remarkable legacy of excellence and opportunity.

Hailing from Snellville, Georgia, the Agard twins recently graduated from Mercer University, both earning engineering degrees while balancing the intense demands of NCAA Division I soccer. Their story is one of discipline, brilliance, and a deep-rooted pride in their Caribbean identity.

Sekou Agard, a defensive powerhouse for Mercer’s men’s soccer team, was recently ranked the 38th best college soccer player in the U.S. by Top Drawer Soccer. He helped lead Mercer to a defensive record, eight shutouts this season, and achieved a personal milestone with four goals, the best offensive season of his career.

His performance earned him back-to-back Southern Conference (SoCon) Offensive Player of the Week honors and his second consecutive First Team All-SoCon selection. Sekou was also recognized for his consistency and leadership with 65 consecutive starts and nearly 6,000 minutes played over his four-year career. Off the field, he excelled academically, making the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Team.

Kadeem Agard, a sharp and clinical attacker, built an equally impressive résumé. With 15 career goals and 12 assists, he’s been a persistent scoring threat since his freshman year. Kadeem was named Georgia’s Gatorade Boys Soccer Player of the Year in 2021 and earned a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman Team. In 2024, he delivered Mercer’s first hat trick in three years, earning Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week honors.

🇬🇾 Proud Sons of Guyana

Though born and raised in the United States, the Agard brothers proudly carry their Guyanese heritage. Their achievements serve as an inspiration to young Guyanese and Caribbean-American athletes everywhere, showing that it’s possible to excel in both academics and athletics while staying grounded in culture and community.

This summer, the brothers will begin the next chapter of their careers as professional athletes, having signed with the Flint City Bucks of USL League Two. Their shared journey continues, this time on a larger stage.

From Guyana to Georgia and beyond, the Agard twins are redefining what it means to represent heritage, discipline, and excellence.  Their story is still unfolding, but already, it’s a legacy worth celebrating.
