UG Confirms Tuition and Facilities Fees are Free for Guyanese Students

In compliance with the Government of Guyana’s directive that tuition for Guyanese students  admitted to the University of Guyana is funded by the state from January 2025, the University  has been working assiduously to adjust its invoicing modules in the Students Records  Management System (SRMS) in time for the new academic year beginning September 2025.

Since the State and not the students are paying the cost per student, the invoice still needs to be  generated in the SRMS but it is not payable by the student. The fix is that Guyanese students  should not see this invoice. A glitch in the change-over process has allowed some students to  somehow still see this invoice which is not billable to them. The University appreciates the  error being flagged and regrets any inconvenience that may have arisen as a result. The  technical team has since moved to correct the glitch. We deeply appreciate the consideration  and gracious patience of our students as the necessary changes to the new system are made and  tested in the coming weeks.
