Shanté Smith has a powerful story to share—a story of resilience, unwavering determination, and the relentless drive to succeed while lifting others up along the journey. She is an author, poet, dancer, and singer who uses her God-given talents to glorify the Lord. Smith has a heart for connecting with people and finding joy and peace in sharing love and encouragement with those who may need them most.

Currently, she is pursuing studies in Communications at the University of Guyana. Shanté aims to deepen her communications skills and further her journey as an author. “I aspire to grow as a courageous woman of God, fully submitted to the work of the Holy Spirit in my life. Becoming an author has been a transformative experience for me. It has allowed me to see how God has reshaped my heart, filling it with love and joy to pour out to others,” she shared.

Her debut book, Pieces of Her, delves into God’s healing power and addresses the often-silenced pain of women and men who have endured sexual abuse. Inspired by her journey, Pieces of Her, is a testament to the truth that true healing comes from God.

Pieces of Her delves into the struggles faced by countless women who endure the silent agony of surviving sexual abuse. It captures the isolation and despair that often accompany such experiences, leaving many feeling as though their pain is unseen and misunderstood. These women are frequently left grappling with self-doubt and questioning their own worth.

By bravely sharing her personal journey and the healing she found through faith in God, Shanté inspires young women who have faced similar struggles to seek solace, guidance, and restoration through their faith.

Her story carries a profound message: your trauma does not define you. Abuse does not dictate your future. With prayer and trust in God, true healing is within reach. Even in your darkest moments, God is with you, ready to answer your prayers and guide you toward peace and renewal.

Sexual abuse is a pervasive issue that leaves many feeling unworthy, insecure, and burdened by self-doubt. Reflecting on her struggles, she mentioned, “I’ve witnessed God’s unwavering presence and healing in my life. Writing Pieces of Her was not just a personal act of healing; it was a calling. God placed this mission on my heart to help others find hope and restoration through Him.”

Shanté Smith’s book

As a survivor of sexual abuse, Smith faced numerous challenges in her personal life and studies. From a young age, she struggled with overwhelming feelings and distractions, which made it hard to focus on her education. But through God, she discovered that anything is possible! “He surrounded me with supportive people who guided me out of the darkness. I overcame those challenges through prayer and fasting and emerged stronger than ever,” Smith added.

Smith’s advice to youth is simple: “Trust God, put your faith in Him, and He will lead you through any trial.  As Psalm 34:18 reminds us: ‘The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.’ Being a victim of sexual abuse does not define your identity. You are more than enough.”

Pieces of Her is available for GY$3,000 and can be purchased on all Amazon platforms(https://amzn.to/42cYMYW). Persons can also contact Shanté Smith at 681-4386 to get their copy. Her book can act as a guide toward healing and a reminder that with God, you can overcome anything.
