This has relevance to news reports and commentaries on selected sanctioning of Guyanese businessmen. Guyana government’s response to American sanctions of businessmen is selected and biased. Businessmen Mr Nazar Mohammed and his son Azrudeen and their businesses were sanctioned by the American government with some reputable commentators saying it was unfair and unjust.

The Ail/Jagdeo led government responded by also sanctioning the two prominent Guyanese philanthropist businessmen, cancelling their cambio license and other operational permits/licenses. Their bank accounts and businesses were also affected.

Besides the Mohammed’s, several other businesses and businessmen and government officials were (and are) sanctioned by the American government, and their visas revoked allegedly for corruption. Why hasn’t the Guyana government (President Irfaan Mohammed and Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo) also sanctioned those businesses and their owners and corrupt government officials? Why haven’t their business licenses cancelled, and their bank accounts closed?  Why are these businesses continuing to get billion-dollar contracts from Irfaan and Jagdeo government?

They continue to loot the nation of precious resources in defiance of American sanctions. These businesses are thumbing their nose at the Americans, arrogantly telling the USA to take their sanction (visas revoked) and go to hell. Isn’t the action of Irfaan and Jagdeo hypocritical? Isn’t the Irfaan and Jagdeo government response towards and treatment of Mohammed’s unfair, unjust, and utterly biased? Those businesses and businessmen and government officials that the USA sanction (visas revoked); they should receive the same treatment as the Mohammed’s by the Irfaan and Jagdeo government.
