The $5 Billion Question President Ali Must Answer

President Irfaan Ali has now confirmed ownership of a sprawling 150-acre luxury ranch at Long Creek, valued at over $5 BILLION, built just three years after assuming office—while earning a presidential salary of $3.7 million per month and after a lifetime in public service. At a time when over 60% of Guyanese live in poverty, this level of personal enrichment from the Head of State is shocking and unacceptable.

As expected, the same corrupted ministers whom the President previously defended will now rush forward to defend him in return—closing ranks to protect privilege instead of serving the people. This is not leadership; it is mutual self-preservation.

Even more alarming is the Former Presidents (Benefits and Other Facilities) Bill, clearly tailored to entrench luxury at public expense: unlimited electricity and water, state-owned and maintained vehicles, technical and clerical staff, and full-time security—all funded by taxpayers and conveniently suited to maintain a massive private ranch after leaving office.

This is an abuse of power and a betrayal of public trust. Such corruption from a Head of State is unbelievable. For the sake of accountability, integrity, and the future of Guyana, President Irfaan Ali should resign from office.
