Puerto Rican Jasmine Camacho-Quinn will be leading the Caribbean contingent into the women’s 100 metre finals as she seeks to defend her Olympic title.
The 27-year-old won semi-final three this morning in a season’s best time of 12.35 seconds to earn an automatic qualifying spot in the finals.
Also making it to the finals is Jamaican Ackera Nugent who finished third behind Camacho-Quinn in a time of 12.44 seconds.
Nugent earned one of the two non-automatic qualifying spots due to her fast time.
Nugent’s teammates Danielle Williams and Janeek Brown weren’t as lucky as they finished sixth and seventh in their semi-finals.
Bahamian Devynne Charlton is the third Caribbean athlete in the finals. (Caribbean Loop)
