Guyanese Ms. Althea Brown, owner of the online Metemgee foodie blog and website, has launched her own cookbook, Caribbean Paleo, to rave reviews in less than a month by authorities in the food business.

Melissa Urban, Whole30 co-founder and New York Times best-selling author said: “Through her delicious recipes and heartwarming stories, Althea shares her vibrant take on comfort foods and brings the warmth and flavors of the Caribbean straight into your kitchen.”

Hayley & Bill Staley, founders of Primal Palate remind us that “Althea Brown is the leading voice in Caribbean Paleo cooking. Her thoughtful and thorough approach to recipe development means you can always count on her recipes to be excellent.”

Althea was born and raised in Georgetown. She is a certified Whole30 coach and a revolutionary voice in Caribbean Paleo cooking. She is dedicated to sharing the traditional Caribbean and Guyanese dishes she grew up eating and making her cuisine accessible to those with gluten allergies and sensitivities.

Althea, who now reside in Colorado, United States with her husband and three children, invites foodies to take a culinary trip to the Caribbean with lick-your-bowl-good dishes that are free from gluten, dairy and refined sugar.

In the book, she has included favourite dishes from her childhood in Guyana as well as recipes from Jamaica, Trinidad and more–all of which are full of bold flavours and fresh ingredients. Village Voice News has shared her recipes frequently in its Recipe Column and can assure you, if you follow the directions, the outcome is finger-licking good. Today the publication features Tennis Rolls.

It is Althea’s hope, whether you are reconnecting with family roots or looking to recreate your favourite dishes from a trip to the Caribbean, Caribbean Paleo be the only guide you will need to incorporate flavour-packed authentic dishes into your gluten-free, Paleo or Whole30 kitchen.

Althea was in Guyana recently promoting her book. Based on feedback, on social media and among persons, her handiwork met and exceeded expectations. She now moves on to Brooklyn, New York for signing and tasting on October 13th 6-8 pm at Hana House in Brooklyn 345 Adams Street, Brooklyn NY 11201.  Tickets are available on Eventbrite.com

Cristina Curp, author of Made Whole Cookbooks, advises us “This book is an absolute treasure, and Althea is a genius in the kitchen–a must have!
