The RCNA received assistance from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (CJCLDDS) for the project.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, President of the RCNA, Mr Tajpaul Adjodhea, expressed his appreciation to all involved. He was loud in praise of the contribution of the CJCLDS, which has over the years collaborated with the RCNA with numerous successful ventures.

Adjodhea said the Club was pleased to be of assistance to the library since the institution plays an integral part in moulding the nation. He is impressed with the efforts libraries are making in light of technology and the changing times.  He offered further assistance in the future.

New Amsterdam Mayor, Mrs. Winifred Haywood, in her remarks noted how pleased she is with the work of the RCNA. She has been impressed over the years with RCNA’s work ethics and congratulated the club for another mission accomplished. Haywood urged the RCNA to continue its noble work.  She also had words of appreciation for the Library and the CJCLDS for what they have been doing over the years.

Chief Librarian, Ms. Emily King, in remarks expressed heartfelt thanks to the RCNA for completing an amazing project. She said that it was most appropriate as the Library is celebrating its 70th Anniversary. The Canopy she said would fit in with the Library’s expansion plans and its quest to make reading fun again.  The library is undergoing changes in keeping with the changing times.

The Canopy comes at an ideal time as it will fit in with the Library’s July/August reading plans.

King also thanked the Mayor and Town Council and the CJCLDS for their contributions. She promised to keep in touch and take up the challenges put forward by the RCNA, the Town Council and the Church.

Representing the CJCLDS, Ms Natasha Khan, in brief remarks, brought best wishes on behalf of the church and said that the CJCLDS is always willing to assist and lend a helping hand wherever possible.

The programme was chaired by Deputy Mayor and Rotarian, Mr. Wayne Wright McIntosh, who also presented some books to King
