China and Germany have agreed that maintaining the stability of the global supply chain is in the interests of both countries, Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday, while briefing the outcomes of the seventh inter-governmental consultation.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Tuesday chaired the seventh China-Germany inter-governmental consultation together with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, jointly witnessing the signing of a series of cooperation agreements, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Wednesday.

Li is on an official visit to Germany from Sunday to Wednesday.

As the highlight of the itinerary of Li’s visit and the first offline consultation between the two governments since the COVID-19 pandemic, this round of China-Germany government consultations has been highly valued by both sides and have achieved a series of important outcomes, the spokesperson said.

China and Germany have agreed to establish a dialogue and cooperation mechanism on climate change and green transformation, hold the third China-Germany high-level financial dialogue and the new China-Germany environmental forum and dialogues on health, Mao said.

The two countries will continue to deepen cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, investment, automobile manufacturing, high technology, new energy, digital economy, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, strengthen engagement at all levels and in various fields, conduct diplomatic consultations and dialogues, and jointly address global challenges, Mao added.

The two sides agreed that deepening cooperation at a higher level, higher standards, and higher quality, while jointly maintaining the stability of the global production and supply chain are in the interests of both countries and have an important global impact, Mao said.

China is willing to continue to work with Germany to implement the important consensus, promote the healthy and stable development of China-Germany relations, and make due contributions to global stability and prosperity as two major countries based on the principles of mutual respect, seeking common ground while reserving differences, exchanges and mutual learning, and win-win cooperation, the spokesperson added.
