Guyana Elections Commissioner (GECOM) Ms. Bibi Shadick died on Saturday, reportedly with doctors at her side. She served as the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C)-nominated Commissioner at GECOM at the time of death.

The 76-year-old, who was an attorney-at-law by profession, served in the PPP/C government as a former Minister of Human Services and was a former Chairman of the Guyana National Broadcasting Authority, formerly served on the University of Guyana Council, and was a former Pro-Chancellor of the University of Guyana.

The Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana said “it is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Sr. Bibi Safora Shadick.” “May her soul be granted Jannatul Firadous,Aameen.”
