The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is investigating an incident wherein a 13-year-old female inflicted knife wounds on her 23-year-old male relative after he allegedly attempted to discourage her from berating her 55-year-old grandmother.

Based on information received, the wounding was committed on Chetram Chandra, a 23-year-old labourer of Belle Vue, West Bank Demerara (WBD) by the female relative on Saturday at about 17:45hrs.

Inquiries disclosed that at the aforementioned date and time, the victim was in his yard watching a movie on his cellphone when the teenager came in and reportedly started to ‘cuss’ her 55-year-old grandmother, the mother of the victim. Upon hearing the alleged abuse, the victim scolded her about her behaviour which caused her to become annoyed.

It is alleged that the teen then took out a surgical blade from her pants pocket and attacked the victim, who received three cuts to his left side face, left hand and right hand. The suspect then ran away, making good her escape.

The matter was reported and the victim was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was seen, examined and admitted a patient in the male medical ward.
