Battered body of man found in Mon Repos pasture

A 65-year-old pensioner was discovered dead at Third Street, Mon Repos Pasture just after 21:00hrs on Sunday.
The dead man has been identified as Astraf Ali, age 65 years, a pensioner of lot 173 Mon Repos Pasture East Coast Demerara.
The police, in a statement, said it has launched an investigation into the discovery. “…the victim was seen laying on the road’s surface facing motionless with injuries about his body and a reddish substance which appeared to be blood around him,” the police said.

The police and the ambulance were summoned where paramedics checked the victim and reported no pulse and that he appears to be dead.

The victim was then placed into the ambulance and escorted to Georgetown Public Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who pronounced him dead.

The body is presently at Lyken Funeral Home awaiting Port Mortem Examination.
