When contacted, GPL’s Public Relations Officer, Shevon Sears, told Village Voice that Gordon is still on the job, however, his three-year contract is winding down. Gordon was appointed CEO of GPL in February, 2018, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience having served at various levels of the Jamaica Public Service Company.
“Mr Gordon is on the job; he is currently holding the fort and he is the CEO of GPL,” Sears clarified.
The incoming CEO would be expected to provide the power company with strategic leadership and management. “S/he is expected to effect change within the company and to lead, coach, and empower an executive team and staff. The successful candidate will lead and direct activities of the divisions of the company, which includes: Operations, Customer Services, Human Resources, Information Technology, Loss Reduction, Finance and Projects,” the company explained.

According to the company, the successful candidate is required to have a professional degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from a recognized university within 15 years of experience at an executive management level in a large electric utility business or other industrial business.
