Pomeroon man kills labourer over alcohol

A 33-year-old Pomeroon labourer was on Saturday night killed following an argument with another labourer about alcohol.
Dead is Elon ‘Buckman’ Benjamin, of Grant Enterprise, Lower Pomeroon River.

According to Police, the suspect, 21, who is also from Grant Enterprise and the deceased, along with friends were imbibing at a shop in the community at about 23:00h when an argument occurred over the alcohol they were drinking.
It is reported that the deceased secured a cutlass and dealt two lashes and chops each to the suspect causing him injuries. The suspect then pulled a knife from his pants waist and stabbed Benjamin to the right side of his ribs. Benjamin collapsed and the suspect ran away.

The matter was reported to police on Sunday at about 02:00h.
The suspect was contacted by the police and admitted to killing Benjamin. He was taken to the Charity Police Station after which he was taken to the Charity Public hospital, to seek Medical attention.

Meanwhile, Benjamin’s body was taken to the Charity Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
