Mr. Leon Christian, the former national basketball player now at the helm of the Guyana Drone Soccer Group, is tasked with a pivotal mission. He aims to propel the Drone Soccer movement across Guyana, establishing a robust network of teams and laying the groundwork for both local and regional competitions. Christian’s vision extends beyond mere sport; it’s about crafting a community united by innovation, technology, and the thrill of competition.

“Our exhibition today showcased the immense curiosity, excitement, and willingness to participate in this new sport among our youth. Given their adeptness with new technologies, there’s no doubt that Guyana has the potential to excel on the global stage in Drone Soccer,” remarked Mr. Christian. His ambitious plans include a country-wide exhibition tour to ignite interest and secure sponsors for teams in every region, setting the stage for Guyana’s representation at the Drone Soccer World Cup in 2025.

The success of the STEMGuyana Expo, highlighted by the Drone Soccer launch, underscores the nation’s commitment to embracing new technologies and fostering a culture of innovation among its youth. It’s a testament to the power of forward-thinking initiatives to inspire, engage, and prepare the next generation for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. As Drone Soccer takes flight in Guyana, it symbolizes not just the growth of a sport but the ascent of a nation eager to make its mark in the realms of technology and competitive e-sports.
