Da Silva reportedly hit a slush puddle and lost control of the vehicle and ended up in a north eastern direction after colliding with a baranka. The car flipped on its side causing the occupants: Bibi Samad, 59; Marlene Williams, 29; Samya Goodman, 18 and Police Constable Keisha Newton, 28, to receive injuries about their bodies.

The injured persons were picked up by public spirited citizens in a conscious state and taken to the Port Kaituma District Hospital where they were treated.

Constable Newton was admitted to the hospital and is suffering injuries to her left hip and arm as well as head while Samad is a patient of the female surgical ward of the hospital. The others were treated and sent away.
