Meet Alana Bunbury-Walton, the owner of Guyana’s first zero-waste store, JARS Zero Waste Shop Gy. Her mission is to create a world without plastic pollution and she’s doing it one step at a time. Alana’s journey as an entrepreneur started with encouragement from her father and inspiration from other family members who set the example.

However, running a business without proper structure and direction was challenging for Alana until she became a participant in the Road to Growth programme. Through the programme, she learned about market segmentation, refined her product line, and targeted her marketing strategies to forecast sales more accurately.

As a woman-owned business in the zero-waste space, Alana faces even more challenges in educating people on the importance of reducing plastic pollution. She is determined to raise awareness and encourage people to be mindful of their environmental footprint. With sustainable businesses like JARS Zero Waste Shop Gy, Alana hopes to create a better future for present and future generations.

Alana strongly believes in inclusivity and diversity in the business world, and supports women-owned ventures as they are more likely to invest back into their business and community. She is a true eco-champion and her passion for a sustainable future is inspiring.
