Meet Marlon Arjune: Photography Enthusiast and Entrepreneur

16-year-old Marlon Arjune recently turned his hobby into a business, when he launched his photography business called “Marlon’s Photography”.

Marlon Mark Arjune, was born on the 6^th January, 2006 and is the second to Mr. and Mrs. Arjune. He hails from Bath Settlement, Region Five.

He obtained his education from the Cotton Tree Nursery and Primary school schools and then the Fraser’s educational institute.

He recently graduated from Fraser’s educational institute.

During Marlon’s second-to-last year at high school, he realised that he had a strong passion for photography. However, he never thought of turning it into his career.

At that time, photography was more of a hobby for him, where he took pictures of nature, his friends, and his family.

After completing high school, Marlon didn’t have a job, but he saw the potential that photography holds. And with the help of his family and supportive friends, he launched his business.

He said, “Photography allowed me the freedom of working within my own schedule and furthering my studies at the same time. Owning my own business also allowed me to perfect my skills and express my creativity.”

As a young photographer, Marlon used his name to brand his business, hence the name “Marlon’s Photography”.

“In the world of photography, it can be very difficult to create an identity for oneself. Therefore as a young photographer, my first step to doing so was using my name in my niche,” said Marlon.

Marlon’s biggest challenge is that many of his potential clients are hesitant to use mobile photography, since hasn’t acquired a professional camera yet.

He added, “Many potential clients turned away after realising that I do not own a camera. This is one of my major challenges that I have not yet been able to overcome. This is because professional cameras are expensive.”

However, he has made attempts to acquire professional photography equipment such as backgrounds, lighting equipment, reflectors, amongst other equipment.

Marlon’s photography skills were developed by watching videos on YouTube and practicing. There he used his phone to practice skills learned by taking photos of nature, relatives and friends.

“Just keep trying and following your dreams. Rome wasn’t built in a day,” is Marlon’s advice for future entrepreneurs.

In the future, he hopes to pursue professional photography training and obtain a certification from a reputable institution. As well as investing in more equipment and launching a studio of his own.
