ExxonMobil pushing ahead with Guyana gas to energy project

Tenders Multi-purpose ports Natural Gas Generation Dredging

Guyana’s plans to land natural gas onshore continue to advance with a new call for support infrastructure.

ExxonMobil subsidiary Esso Exploration and Production Guyana (EEPGL), operator of the producing offshore Stabroek block, has issued a request for information (RFI) for the design, procurement, and construction of a marine offloading facility (MOF).

The MOF would be built on the west bank of the Demerara river in the region of Wales Estate and be able to handle vessels of 2,000-10,000 deadweight tonnage.

The RFI, available here, targets in-country firms as part of the government’s local content push for the petroleum sector.

Suppliers have until June 10 to submit documents with requests for proposals expected to be sent out in July and a potential award penciled in for October.

EEPGL’s project would dispatch gas for power generation and other uses, such as industrial offtake. A RFI was recently issued to conduct a survey for the pipeline.

The government envisions development of a 300MW power plant and a natural gas liquids facility.
