The tally stood at 129 as of Saturday September 25, 2021. On Saturday the Ministry of Health recorded five more deaths. There were also 211 new infections, with some 35 persons in the ICU. The overall death toll stands at 754.

Altogether, the country has experienced 754 deaths since its first case on March 11, 2020. Based on these figures, the month of September 2021 alone is responsible for over  17 percent of the COVID-19 deaths in the country to date.
For the year thus far, the number of COVID-19 related deaths per month are as follows: January – 13; February – 20; March – 36; April – 66; May – 98; June – 80; July – 68; August – 78 and 129 as of September 25.

The daily numbers in September have been staggering. There were 13 deaths on September 10 only. Meanwhile, there were notably 8 deaths each on September 1, 12 and 19 and 7 deaths on September 5, 11, 18.

The vaccination rate now stands at over 352,000 for the first jab and over 182,000 for the second leaving a gap between the two doses of over 170,000 or 48.3 per cent.

This is premised on the fact that there were 252 new cases as of September 24, with 33 persons in the COVID-19 ICU. There were 3,592 in home isolation, 183 in institutional isolation and 4 in institutional quarantine.
Region Four now has over 14,600 COVID-19 cases recorded while Region Eight has the lowest at 490.
