The police have found the partially decomposed body of a mixed-race male in his forties, face-down between the rocks at the western bank of the Demerara River. The body was found in the vicinity of Belle Vue West Bank Demerara (WBD) around 13:45 on April 5, 2021.

It was clad in dark grey long pants and a burgundy jersey. The state of decomposition made it difficult to establish the identity.

Several persons around the area were questioned but no useful information was received. The body was taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting identification and Post Morten Examination. Statements have not yet been taken but an investigation in progress.

Based on the description given by the police that the body found is of mixed race and estimated to have been someone in their forties, it does not appear to be that of missing teen Joel Skeete. The clothing description, however, is similar to that of what Skeete was reportedly last wearing.

Skeete, 19 years old, has been missing since the evening of Wednesday, March 31, 2021. He was last seen leaving the barbershop at the Harbour Bridge Mall around 7 pm and was wearing a dark red T-shirt, dark grey long jeans, and red slippers.

Joel, a Computer Science major at the University of Guyana, is 6ft 3 inches and weighs about 200 lbs. Anyone with information that would help to find Joel is asked to contact the police, or his mother, Lorenza Griffith, on 223-6368/ 618-7834 or his uncle, Julius Skeete, on 611-1004.
