“Enquiries revealed that while tending to a hole in their boat, John was hit by a wave, and drifted further out to the sea,” Police said in a statement noting that Duke escaped from the sinking boat which drifted west.

He was subsequently rescued by men on a larger boat and was taken to the Abary Sluice Outpost, where the incident was reported.

The boat and the engine were later retrieved on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 but John remains missing.
