President Irfaan Ali used the opening of GuyExpo 2025 on Thursday night to push back against growing public criticism of the government’s unfulfilled promises, insisting that the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) remains committed to delivering on all of its pledges.

Addressing those crowd gathered at the National Exhibition Centre in Sophia, the President dismissed concerns about delays in key social support measures — including the long-anticipated cash grant — and assured citizens that his administration has not forgotten what it promised.

“Whether it’s cash, grant, incentives, subsidies, you don’t need to remind us. We know what our commitments are, and we are going to deliver on every one of them, faster, better, greater,” he declared.

Taking aim at what he described as political noise and online criticism, Ali said his government is focused on substantive national development, not “simplistic things.”

“This is… serious business. This is not social media games,” he told the audience.

According to the President, the government still intends to roll out a year-end cash grant, establish a zero-interest development bank, and expand support programmes for vulnerable groups — all commitments previously announced but not yet implemented. He framed these initiatives as part of a broader economic vision, linking the last five years of PPP/C governance to what he described as a foundation for future national prosperity.

The administration’s delivery record has come under increased scrutiny in recent months as citizens await concrete action on several campaign and policy promises. While the President did not provide specific timelines on Thursday, he insisted that every commitment would be honoured.
