Improvised weapons, cannabis and mobile phones among items found during NA Prison raid

A Joint Services search of the New Amsterdam Prison on Wednesday has unearthed 30 grams of cannabis leaves, seeds and stems in eight zip lock bags, four mobile phones, six improvised weapons, a quantity of razor blades, six lighters, a quantity of wires, a quantity of zip lock bags, four metal spoons, one adapter, phone batteries, charges and cables, a scissor, a mirror and a nail clip.

According to a statement from the Prison Service, the raid was conducted at about 06:20h by 85 ranks of the Joint Services. The search was completed at 09:08h. During the search, the Guyana Police Force’s Narcotics dogs were deployed.
