In a statement issued by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) last month, the public is advised to collect their National Identification Cards if they have completed registration transactions—such as applying for new registration, making changes or corrections to their registration details, or requesting a replacement ID since 2008.
GECOM acknowledges that some registrants may have changed addresses since their registration, making it difficult for them to collect their ID cards from the original office. As such, the Commission recommends that affected individuals visit the GECOM office responsible for their current area of residence to request their cards. GECOM will facilitate the transfer of ID cards to these offices to ensure smooth delivery.
The distribution of ID cards is ongoing at all GECOM permanent registration offices across the country during regular working hours—Monday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Offices are closed for lunch from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Registrants are reminded that they must appear in person to collect their ID cards.
