Dean of the Law Faculty of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine (Trinidad and Tobago Guardian)

Trinidad and Tobago Guardian – Dean of the Law Faculty of the University of the West Indies (UWI) and president of the Family Planning Association of T&T (FPATT), Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine has been hospitalised after a vehicular accident on Thursday.

Guardian Media understands Antoine was heading into Port-of-Spain on Old Year’s day when her vehicle was hit from behind by a truck. Guardian Media also understands she suffered injuries to her head and back but is conscious and is not fighting for her life despite rumours. She is receiving treatment at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
In a statement to Guardian Media, UWI St Augustine Campus Principal, Professor Brian Copeland said the campus is saddened to hear about the incident.

“We continue to monitor her condition as she undergoes medical treatment. Our thoughts are with Professor Antoine as we hope and pray for a complete recovery,” he said.

Antoine has been an outspoken figure when it comes to some of the controversial and topical issues facing this country and the region.
