Over 250 Melanie families to secure land titles through regularisation exercise

Leguan Island, Region 3 – Under the administration of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) and President Irfaan Ali, a $40 million plantain chip factory was constructed on Leguan Island, purportedly aiming to boost local industry and generate employment. This ambitious project, promised to change the local economy of the village President Ali claims to have grown up in, was met with high hopes and great expectations 15 years ago.

However, over the past decade and a half, this facility has remained conspicuously inactive, failing to produce plantain chips or any form of economic benefit to the community. The factory, which was envisioned as a beacon of progress, stands today as a stark reminder of unfulfilled promises and imprudent spending of taxpayers’ money.
Local residents have expressed their frustrations and disappointment over the unused factory, calling it a symbol of broken promises and governmental ineffectiveness. The idle plantain chip facility has not only failed to provide the anticipated jobs but has also highlighted the lack of proper planning and foresight in government-led projects.
This situation calls into question the PPP’s accountability and commitment to economic development and has become a subject of intense scrutiny and criticism from various corners of the society. Citizens are demanding answers and accountability for the wasted investment that was meant to uplift their livelihoods.
The facility is now used as a Brothel..

Residents told this publication “Welcome to little Dubai under the PPP government.!!”
