The Rotary Club of Garden City – Georgetown welcomes District Governor, Brian Glasgow to Guyana and its club. During his visit Brian witnessed the unveiling of the Rotary Club of Garden City – Georgetown’s latest mental health benches and peace pole at St. John Bosco Home, an orphanage for boys in Plaisance.

The highlight of District Governor Brian’s visit was the unveiling ceremony of the Mental Health Benches and Peace Pole at St. John Bosco Home. “These benches are not only a symbol of our commitment to mental health awareness but also a tangible resource for the boys at the orphanage to find solace and support during challenging times.” Through this initiative, Rotarians aim to promote mental well-being and create a safe and nurturing environment for the boys to thrive.

Erecting a peace pole at the St. John Bosco Home for Boys holds profound significance in fostering an environment of harmony, understanding, and unity within the community, the club asserts.

“In a place where young individuals may have faced various challenges and adversities, the presence of the peace pole offers a beacon of light, inspiring them to embrace peaceful resolutions, cultivate empathy towards others, and strive for positive change. Moreover, the peace pole serves as a tangible expression of the collective aspirations for a world free from violence and conflict, inviting all who encounter it to reflect on their roles as peacemakers and ambassadors of goodwill.”

The Mental Health Benches and Peace Pole project was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Rotary Club of Garden City – Georgetown, and generous donors who share similar vision of supporting mental health initiatives in the community. The Club extends heartfelt gratitude to all involved in bringing the project to fruition.
